one lonely sock

in my someday home there is a space big enough for me to fold, sort, and hang dry laundry. in my mind it looks somewhat like the picture above with baskets, countertops, and lovely detergent bottles.
i will laugh when i remember the days of trying to balance a pile of clean laundry in my arms all the way to the back bedroom. you see back then the only place big enough for me to do this work was the bed. it was a battle to get everything out of the dryer the first try. who really wants to go back a second time? carefully dodging napping puppies, extraneous bags and pieces of furniture i keep my death grip on the clean towels and socks. if not for fear one lonely sock would plunge to the dirty floor and accumulate all that puppy hair i try desperately to keep in check my stroll would be pleasant.

better get back to that pile on the bed before it wrinkles...
