If you want to win something, run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.

two weeks ago i began spring training with the local running club. last season i trained with them for my first half marathon. it was such an amazing experience that i decided to do it again. staying in the same pace group and planning to run three or four more halfs before i start training for a full marathon. sure, my training takes up a lot of my time. and i don't always want to get up at six a.m. to run on a cold rainy saturday morning. but, i am passionate about this. it makes me feel good, and powerful, and strong, and alive. i am blessed to have a body that is capable of greatness. i just have to have the dedication to make it happen. last season i attempted blogging about my training. this season i will make more of an effort to chronicle my weekly mileage, aches, pains, and victories.

week one mileage: 7
week two mileage: 14

no aches and pains to report. my base miles have been easy to complete. as for my long runs i think i will take a couple more weeks to recover and bounce back from taking a month off after the half in december.

sidenote - thinking i might start looking for new shoes. there is nothing wrong with me but, for some reason a new run season equals new shoes as well... anyone have thoughts on this?

yes olivia! anyone can do it. it's a total mental thing. train slowly and consistently and you will be successful.
